Paving a City Built Around a Base
Asphalt paving in Warner Robins means working with every era of the city's fast history. In 1940 the farming community of Wellston had about 50 residents. The War Department chose the area for an air depot, which opened in 1942, and on September 1, 1942, the town was renamed for General Augustine Warner Robins. It incorporated in 1943, became a city in 1956, and grew to 33,491 people by 1970 and 80,308 by 2020.
Mid-century neighborhoods
Homes from the 1950s, 60s and 70s make up much of the older city. Their driveways were often built with less base than we would use today, and decades of rain, roots and traffic have worn them down. Alligator cracking, sunken areas over old driveway pipes and edges crumbling into the yard are common. In most of these cases we recommend removing the old driveway, rebuilding the base, replacing the pipe if needed and paving fresh.
Newer subdivisions
Growth has pushed south and west toward Centerville, Bonaire and Kathleen. Newer driveways mostly need maintenance: crack filling, a sealcoat every few years and quick repair of any area that settles.
Robins Air Force Base
Robins AFB, just east of the city across US 129/GA 247, employs more than 25,000 military, civilian and contractor workers and is described as the largest single industrial complex in Georgia. That workforce drives demand for rentals, apartments and commercial lots along Watson Boulevard and Russell Parkway. Turnover is steady, and landlords often need repairs done between tenants.
Weather
Warner Robins averages about 92 degrees in July, with a record of 108, and about 46 inches of precipitation a year; July is the wettest month. Its tornado history includes an F4 on April 30, 1953, that killed 18 people. Day to day, heat softens asphalt and storms test drainage, so we plan both into every job.
Permits
Inside the city, we check the City of Warner Robins' current requirements before any work where a driveway meets the street. Unincorporated areas follow Houston County's driveway regulations, and state routes follow GDOT's.
PCS moves and home sales
Many households here move on military orders. If you are selling or renting out your house, a few targeted repairs and a sealcoat make the driveway look cared for at modest cost. If you have just arrived and the driveway needs work, we tell you what is urgent and what can wait.
Utility locates
Before any digging or grading, we request Georgia 811 locates. Mid-century neighborhoods often have water and gas service lines that run under driveways in places owners do not expect.
Commercial lots
Shops, restaurants, churches and apartment complexes need lots that carry traffic and drain well. We pave, overlay, patch, seal and stripe, and we phase the work to keep you open.
